Instructor: Dr. Marcus Gibson
“Who do you say that I am?” Christ’s question to the apostles, and Peter’s answer, inaugurates the Church’s faith and intellectual life. We confess this same faith at every Sunday Mass in the words of the Nicene Creed. Yet the words of this Creed articulate not only our faith but also our hope: hope in Christ, in the life and fulfillment Christ offers us, and in the promises Christ has made to us. Join us for a seminar led by Marcus Gibson as we explore some of the greatest writings of the Church Fathers—including Irenaeus, Athanasius, and Gregory Nazianzen, among others– whose work helped the Church articulate the Nicene Creed and the hope it expresses.
Key Topics:
- The historical context of the Nicene Creed.
- Insights from the Church Fathers on the foundations of our faith.
- How the Creed shapes our hope in Christ’s promises.
